Whimisical Scraps and Bugs Challenge: Snowflake

It was time for another challenge for the Whimsical Scraps and Bugs blog and this time it was to use any snowflake from any cartridge. Well, this came at a perfect time since we got snow a couple of weeks ago for the first time in almost 20 years. I actually think I am going to do an entire album of the snow since I won the KI Memories kit from Jeanne a couple of weeks ago that would be perfect for a themed album. Anyways, here is my submission for the challenge. Don't forget to hop over to the blog to see what the other designers have done with the challenge as well. You can find the link on my sidebar.

(ok, got the picture changed, this one isn't as "drab" as the other one was)

Products: Christmas Cheer cart as well as the Graphically Speaking cart, KI Memories pattern papers and stickers, Bazill cardstock, Apple Barrel acrylic paint, MAMBI bling, Martha Stewart glitters

sweet little Jolie

I took Jolie for some pampering yesterday since she really needed to be cleaned up a little bit. I say pampering, the way she acts, it is more like torture, lol. She doesn't really like being left anywhere without me there. When I picked her up, she was like a crazy dog trying to jump out of the lady's arms!!! Since she was looking so cute, I decided to play with my camera a little bit and try to get some decent shots of her. It is really hard to take pictures of dogs, they are constantly moving!!!! Anyway, here is my little baby Jolie (not really a baby, but that is what I call her, lol)

YAY!!!!! Good mail day!!!!

My friend, Jeanne was giving away a KI winter kit on her blog last week and of course, since KI Memories is one of my favorite companies, I posted a comment to get in on the give away. And what do you know, I won!!!!! YAY for me!!!! She sent me an email saying that she was mailing and I got it yesterday. This set is really REALLY nice! It has a ton of stuff in it! I saw lots of other ones like this at Target, I might have to pick up a couple of the other sets as well.

This set included 40 pattern papers, tons of stickers, 3 cute magnets, glitter rubons, epoxy stickers, chipboard stickers and an album!!!

I just want to say thanks to Jeanne for being so generous!!!!

Christmas Tags

I was following the Tim Holtz blog for the 12 tags of Christmas and was LOVING them, but didn't have many of the items that he was using, so I decided to just sit down with what I did have and make a couple of tags myself. Mine are NOTHING compared to what he does!!! He is definately the king when it comes to tags. Anyway, here is what I came up with. The best part about these is that I just used left over pieces of the all kind of stuff that I already had. Nothing like using up some of the stash!!!

Products used: Basic Grey chipboard, cardstock, Versamagic ink, misc. ribbon, Making Memories rubons

Products used: Bazzill cardstock, Crate paper, Kaiser rhinestones, Basic Grey chipboard, Stickles, Tim Holtz distressing ink, Making Memories rubons, Cuttlebug embossing folder

Whimisical Scraps and Bugs Challenge: Christmas Tree

The first challenge on the Whimsical Scraps and Bugs Challenge (click here ) was to use a Christmas tree from any cartridge. I decided on using the Christmas Cheer tree on page 105 in the book. I cut out a base and then cut 3 more trees to cut and glue onto the base. I ran the pieces through my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots embossing folder. When glueing the pieces of the tree to the base, I added pop dots at the bottom of each layer to give it more dimension. Once everything was glued, I added Doodlebug flock to the dots from the embossing folder. Let me recommend doing this before glueing everything down. I think it would have been MUCH easier.
(sorry about the pic being not that great, for some reason, I had a really hard time getting a good picture of this card)

Products used: Bazzill cardstock, Doodleub fun flock, Tim Holtz Grungeboard (JOY and star), Stickles, Making Memories rubons, misc. ribbon, rhinestones, rubon stitches that I bought from QVC years ago, acrylic paint, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder, Christmas Cheer Cricut cartridge

2008 Louisiana Blizzard (lol)

So we woke up to something very unusual yesterday, lol. I actually woke up about 4am, realized it was snowing and got the whole house up!!!! Taylor opted to sleep in a little bit, but McKenzie was ready to play!!! At times the snowflakes were HUGE!!! It was so pretty to watch it fall. Since it only snows every 20 years or so, we enjoyed it while it lasted.

the girls enjoying the snow

this picture was taken about 4am right after she woke up!! In fact, you can't see, but she is in shorts pj's!!!

a few new things on the horizon....

so my term on the Treasured Memories design team wrapped up last month and while I am sad about it, I am excited for the new girls. I have been working on getting some other things going and I got word a few days ago that Scrapbook News and Review picked up 7 of my layouts for their next publication. YAY!!!!! (Thanks to Charlotte for introducing me to that site) You have to subscribe to this e-zine, but from what I have heard it is worth the price!!! Check it out, http://www.scrapbooknewsandreview.com

I also got word within the last couple of weeks that I made a design team for a blog called Whimsical Scraps and Bugs. This blog gives challenges everyone couple of weeks and centers around using the Cricut machine. She is a fairly new blog and I am looking forwarding to be a part of an up and coming site. Check the site out here http://whimsicalscrapsandbugs.blogspot.com/

I also have something else working, but not sure that it is official so I will save that little tidbit of good news for later!!!

I hope to get to work on some scrapping stuff soon!!!
