Butterfly (Design Team submission)

For this assignment, we had no designated products to use, it was a free for all and we were able to pick pretty much whatever we wanted, which actually has it pros and cons, believe it or not. Sometimes I like when Melissa gives us specific products because it forces me to use things that normally I wouldn't pick out. Anyway, here is what I ended up with for my July project:

(don't forget to click on the layout to see a larger image!!!!)

Products used: Basic Grey paper from the Euphoria collection, KI Memories pattern paper, Creative Imaginations paper (scalloped borders) and KI Memories lace cardstock (butterflies), Fancy Pants chipboard swirls, Making Memories paint in Hibiscous, Prima Marketing flowers, Doodlebug Velvet flock in Beetle Black, Doodlebug Stick With It Stickers (little swirls), Heidi Swapp felt butterflies, Heidi Swapp flower, Art Institute glitter, Cricut Mickey font cartridge and Cricut Storybook font cartridge, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Bubblegum pink

I cut the KI butterfly lace paper into pieces and put the Basic Grey paper behind the butterflies so that they would be a solid. The title (and subtitle) were cut using my new Storybook cartridge. I ran them upside down through the Xyron and then covered them in Doodlebug flock and what a difference it made in the letters. The mickey head was cut from a left over page plastic sheet and then covered with glitter to match the sequined mickey ears that Taylor is wearing. I wanted to do sequins, but just couldn't get it to look right.

Here is a closeup of the flower on the corner of the page

The challenges that I completed this month were:
- Must use 5 different products from 5 different manufacturers

- Create a collage of pictures

- Use 4-5 different print papers

Ice Cool Station (Epcot)

Ok, so at Epcot, there is this little place that allows you go taste different Coca Cola products from all over the world. I had read on all of the Disney boards that the worst tasting one there is called Beverly, so I had the girls taste that one so I could get their opinions on how bad it really was. You can tell by their pictures that it is pretty bad, lol. This was a pretty "cool" place, if you have the chance you should check it out!
Products used: Basic Grey paper, Bazzill cardstock, misc rick-rack, clear Dew Drops, Accent Essentials Cricut Cartridge, Cooper font and Loki (something like that) font for the Coca Cola words (all words cut using SCAL program)

I used lots of Snow-Tex all over this layout to give the "snow" a realistic look. It took forever to put it all over the layout, but I like the end result. I just realized that I forgot to put a Mickey head on this layout, so I will add that before it goes in my book!!!

We're all ears

I have a bunch of just misc. pictures from Disney that I am trying to plow through, you know just those snapshots of various things. I still have a ways to go, but hey, at least I am getting something done!!!

I also took Amy's first Cricut class this weekend and had a blast. I love this layout, it is so cute. I don't really have a use for it since my girls aren't really into the "princess" thing, but it is so cute, I couldn't not take the class. You should see the new class for next month!!!!! I did learn to use my ink pads in a couple of ways that I didn't know I could before, so that was fun learning new things. It was fun to get back into the paper piecing that I use to love to do back in the day. Here is my layout from the class.

Products used: Bazzill cardstock, Bazzill Bling cardstock, Doodlebug sugarcoated cardstock, misc. bling and inks, Cricut Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge.

Tea Cups

More Disney......... there is a cute story that goes with this layout. I will write the story and put it on the back of the layout and I do need to add a Mickey Mouse head to the layout that I forgot. (I put a mickey head on EVERY Disney layout that I do, just one of those little things that I like to do )

We were waiting in line for the teacups (and had been waiting for several minutes) and finally when we think it was our turn, the guy closes the gate on us. The girls were whining and I told them, just hold on a few more minutes, no biggie. As the ride finishes, I hear a commotion off to the side and look over to see what is going on.......Alice and Mad Hatter come running underneath the pavillion!! They stand in front of everyone talking to each other and then I realized, we are first in line to see them!!!! I quickly told the girls that good things come to those who wait!!! So the guy opens the gate, they wave at us as they start running around all of the teacups, we get in our teacup and Mad Hatter comes and gets in our teacup!!! He rode the ride with us while Alice went and rode with someone else. It was by far one of the coolest things that happened to us while we were at Disney. After the ride was over, he escorted us to a little shaded part to take a picture with him and Alice. I think my girls felt like rock stars!!!

Products used: Pink Paslee pattern papers, Making Memories diecut paper, Three Bugs in a Rug paper, EK Success Mad Hatter 3-D stickers, Doodlebug sugarcoated cardstock, Stickles, Willy Wonka font cut with Cricut using SCAL (Sure Cuts A Lot) - need information on this program, email me.

Invitations

So, McKenzie's birthday is coming up in less than a month and I finished the invitations for her party. She is having her first slumber party and can't be more excited.

For this I finally used my Cuttlebug that I have had for months and used only once or twice. I used the invitation embossing folder on the Black Magic cardstock. After running that through the Cuttlebug, I use a sanding block (thanks Christie!!!) and sanded the embossed parts to let the color come through. I didn't have enough of one color of cardstock, so I used several different colors...........same thing with the flowers, so all invitations are just a tad bit different.

Products used: Cuttlebug machine, Invitation embossing folder, Black Magic cardstock, Glitz pattern paper, Making Memories paint, misc. ribbon, Prima flowers, misc. bling, Stickles

All Star Music

I am working on more Disney stuff and in the next few months, it will probably be Disney overload on my blog while I work on all of those pictures. I am really wanting to go back to Disney in the next couple of years, but not sure how well that will go over with the finanaces. This time we stayed at All Star Music. It was ok. We preferred All Star Movies just because of the HUGE Buzz and Woody, but it was still nice. The staff was great about switching our rooms when I wasn't happy with our first one. They even moved all of our stuff for us while we were at the parks that day, so all in all, I would give them a good recommendation.

I used the SCAL software to cut the music notes. There are a couple of dingbat fonts that have all kinds of music notes and such that are pretty cool.

Products used: Love Elsie paper, Making Memories papers, Bazzill Cardstock, Doodlebug sugarcoated cardstock, Fancy Pants felt photo corners, Cricut Plantin Schoolbook font, Cricut Mickey and Friends carts

Growing Up

It is so hard to for me to believe that in just a couple of months, my oldest daughter is going to be a teenager. I always heard people say that kids grow up so fast and I remember being a kid thinking it took forever to "grow up" and now I know exactly what they were talking about. I remember her being 4 or 5 like it was yesterday.

Products used: Pink Paislee paper, Bazzill diecut cardstock, Fancy Pants chipboard, Prima and Making Memories flowers, misc bling, Technique Tuesday chipboard, white ink pen, green Versamagic ink, Making Memories lettering
