Treasured Memories Design Team 2008

So last night was our first "real" meeting with challenges and products and the like. We all turned in our All About Me layouts and wow, everyone did a great job. Check out their blogs if you have a chance (I will add a TM Design Team blog roll later so the links will be easy to find). After the meeting, we all went to Golden Wok for a little girls' night out dinner and had a blast getting to know each other. I think this year is going to be a blast! Here is our group picture
(left to right)- Lisa Gautreaux, Lisa Johnson, Mandi Green, Charlotte Cramer, me!, Jeanne Pellerin

Oh, and if you haven't been by TM in the last few days, you really should check it out. They are still in the process of the flipping the store around. It is looking good!!! Janet is getting lots of new stuff everyday. Yesterday she got THE coolest chipboard letters and accents along with matching pattern paper from Bisous, this stuff is gorgeous!!! She also got some cool new stencils from Crafter's Workshop that look like a ton of fun to play with.

This is me......Heather (DT submission)

Well, here it is, my first layout to be turned in for the 2008 Design Team. Our assignment this month was to do a layout of ourselves, which is something most of us are not comfortable with. I don't have a lot of pictures of me, especially pictures of me without other people in them. Taylor took these pictures, and I have to say, she did a pretty good job! This layout was a little harder to do than I expected and took longer than most layouts I do. Not sure why, maybe I was trying to make everything just right, I don't know. I can't wait to see the rest of the layouts and to see what our next challenge is. I have to admit, I am a little nervous about what our challenge and/or products might be. Melissa was very clear that she is going to push us and force us to work out of our comfort zone and everyone knows how that can be.

Products used: Bazzill cardstock, pattern paper (not sure who makes it, I will ask Janet), Fancy Pants chipboard, Prima flowers, SEI brads, Creative Imaginations chipboard (Fleur des lis), Krylon gold leafing paint pen, Basic Grey Wilma chipboard letters

Dirt

I took these pictures one afternoon that I was watching my niece, Anna. Lee just had some dirt delivered to fill in some low spots in our backyard and the girls couldn't wait to get out there and play in it, which actually surprises me since Anna is way girlie. Kind of a simple layout, but I just love the pictures and like that they are the focus of this layout. For the title, I used grungeboard that I inked and then sprayed Glimmer Mist over for a cool effect! (Thanks for the idea Janet, well and actually doing the spraying too). We then sprayed the whole background with Glimmer Mist to give the paper a "dirty" look. I am going to add a coupl of lines of journalling I think, since that is my goal to journal a little bit on the majority of my layouts this year.

Products used: cardstock, Stemma pattern paper, Love, Elsie pattern paper, Tim Holtz grungeboard, Glimmer Mist, Fancy Pants chipboard, Prima flowers, Karen Foster biggie brads, Making Memories brads, misc. ribbon, and stickles

Fishing

ok, I will admit, this is not one of my best layouts (seems I have been having lots of those lately) but once again, it is one that is done and can go in my book. Just keep in mind, every layout can't be a masterpiece, there are always those that you are just happy to get done and in your book.
Products used: Chatterbox pattern paper, not sure what the other papers are, Buzz and Bloom chipboard "hook", Making Memories letters for title and stickers, brads from Target, Autumn Leaves stamp

Family

This is my brother and his wife and two girls. I love this picture of them so I couldn't wait to scrap it. One of my favorite color combos is red and black and white, so I was pumped to do this one. I used LOTS of bling on this one. I also used a technique that I saw Wendy doing once while she was preparing for one of her calendar classes. Instead of using inkpads with her acrylic stamps, she used acrylic paint and I loved the results. You have to brush it on lightly with a foam brush if you want to get the detail that some of the stamps have. I never could get my stamps to give me that dark black defined stamped image that I wanted, so this method works great. I also used the paint and foam brush to distress the edges of the layout.

Products used: Prima bling, Doodlebug bling, Fancy Pants acrylic stamps, Karen Foster rubon, Bazzill cardstock, KI Memories pattern paper (red), Creative Imaginations pattern paper, Folk Art acrylic paint, Prima flowers, white brads

Joe is TWO years old

Here is a layout of my one and only newphew Joseph from his birthday last year. This layout turned out nothing like what I had pictured in my head, of course, that happens more times than not. I have to say that after getting my Cricut Expression, I have used the Plantin Schoolbook font on LOTS of layouts. I love it! Talk about a versatile font.

Products used: DCWV glitter pattern papers, Bazzill cardstock, Tim Holtz grungeboard letters and stars, Making Memories metal circle tags and brads, Stickles, Cricut Plantin Schoolbook cartridge

Please keep our family in your thoughts, this is my husbands grandfather who passed away Sunday morning. They were very close as my husband was growing up and continued to stay close to him until he passed away. Papa Ernie was a great man and he will be missed.

This layout is of my niece Parker. The colors look much better in person. I have taken about 10 pictures of this layout and in all of them, the pattern paper was "washed" out. You can't even see the ink distressing on the edge of the paper it is so washed out.

Products used: KI Memories papers, Fancy Pants chipboard flower, buttons, ribbon, Bazzill cardstock and Tim Holtz grungeboard

Another Dance album

Sorry, it has taken me awhile to post another project this week. We have lots going on in our family, and honestly, I haven't been really scrapping or in the mood to scrap, so there really hasn't been much to post. I started this book last week sometime and ran out of black and white paint, so I had to wait to finish it. I have no idea what I am going to do with it yet, probably pass it on to one of my niece's as a gift at their dance recital later this year.

I won't list all of the products I used on this one because there are so many. I pulled all of the papers from my scrap pile and most of the embellishments are left overs from other projects or things that I had on hand. The doll on the cover was made using the Cricut Paper Doll dress up cartridge and the crown on the first page was made using the Cricut Paper Pups cartridge. If you have any questions on specific products, email me and I will get the answer for you.
PS Please keep my husband and family in your thoughts today, he lost his grandfather this morning after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Happy Mardi Gras!

Happy Mardi Gras everyone!

Ok, so I realize this layout is not the typical Mardi Gras layout, but well, my pictures didn't have typical Mardi Gras colors. The girls and I rode in the Scott Mardi Gras parade last year on the Dance Concepts float and had a great time. I do need to add the date on this layout, I forgot to do that. I might add a line of bling across the top of the black striped paper as well if I can find something that will look good. I took the idea of putting the fleur de lis on the edge of the paper from Janet. She did a cute make and take a couple of weeks ago with it on the edge and I thought it looked so cute. I needed a two page layout, so I added the other part on the other edge.

Products used: I can't remember what the background paper is and there is nothing on the back to indicate the company, DCWV striped glitter paper, Doodlebug sugarcoated paper, glitter and chipboard letters, Creative Imaginations chipboard (fleurs de lis), Prima Marketing bling flourishes, Cricut Accent Essentials cartridge (big fleur de lis) and Plantin Schoolbook font (Dance Concepts float).

The black fleur de lis was white, so I painted it black with acrylic paint. I covered the whole thing in glue (Mono clear with blue lid) and then sprinkled Doodlebug glitter over the whole thing. Shake off the excess glitter and you are done!

another Build-A-Bear layout

Here is TayTay at Build-A-Bear for Anna's birthday party. My kids love Build-A-Bear and so do I!!!! We have several animals and TONS of clothes for them. I am terrified to even thing of the amount of money we have spent in that place, lol. Everything is so cute though!

Ok, about the layout, eh, I feel like it needs something more like ribbon or something, but can't really find the right place to put it. I am going to leave it out of the book for a little while and maybe something will come to me that I can add to it. I wish I had made the title a little bigger as well, but it is glued down and ain't coming back up, lol.

Products used: Bazzill cardstock, Creative Imaginations pattern paper and epoxy stickers, misc. buttons, Making Memories brads, Cricut Accent Essentials cart (flower) and Wishblade for the title (Funhouse font)

Happy Friday!!

So who watched Lost last night? I was so glad to see it back on TV. I haven't missed one episode and have watched many of them twice to try to catch things I missed the first time. It was a great episode and of course, left many more questions as to what is going on. I am upset that there are only 8 episodes because of the writer's strike. Hopefully they will get all of that figured out soon and start working on the rest of the episodes.

Lots going on this weekend!!! Mardi Gras is Tuesday, so lots of people in town this weekend. The Carencro parade is Saturday, my family always enjoys this parade. I have a baby shower to attend on Sunday and the Superbowl is on Sunday. I think with everything going on, however, I am most excited about FINALLY being able to get out of my Verizon contract and heading to AT&T for and Iphone. I have been wanting this phone FOREVER, but being stuck in a contract and refusing to pay the outrageous fees to break that contract, I learned to be patient, well not really, I didn't have a choice. Honestly, my time with Verizon was awesome until about a year ago when I started having trouble with them. It just went down hill from there. One problem after another. My contract expired yesterday YAY!!!!! I can't wait to get my hands on that Iphone, can you tell I am excited!

Ok, something scrappy. I haven't had much time to scrap lately so I have been lacking on layouts. I am hoping that I can crank out a couple this weekend. It will be pretty busy, but I have to have some kind of goal or else I will sit on the couch the whole weekend. I do need to get started on my design team challenge as well. I brought the pictures to Sam's over a week ago and still haven't picked them up yet. I plan on doing that today and stopping by the store to pick up whatever I plan to use on it. I won't be able to post it for a couple of weeks though, so you will have to wait on that one. Anyway, I did make this card for niece's birthday this week. Eh, I think I could have done better, but she will love it since she is a HUGE princess fan and loves anything girlie and sparkly.

Products used: Bazzill cardstock, DCWV glitter paper, Cricut Happily Ever After cartridge, and LOTS of stickles, lol
